ITIN / CAA

Apply for or renew your ITIN without unnecessarily mailing your original passport.

As a Certified Acceptance Agent, Normas Family can review certain original documents, authenticate the ones the CAA is authorized to certify, and prepare the corresponding paperwork to accompany the application or renewal. In many cases, this allows the client to keep their passport throughout the process.

What can it include?

  • Preparing or reviewing Form W-7.
  • Initial application.
  • Renewal.
  • Reviewing identity and foreign status.
  • Reviewing original documents.
  • Certifying authorized documents.
  • Preparing the return when it applies.
  • Organizing the package.
  • Guidance on any additional requests.

Why use a CAA?

Mailing an original passport can leave you without one of your most important ID documents while it's being processed. Mail delays, difficulty traveling or handling other paperwork, and the risk of loss or damage can also come into play.

Whether you can keep your passport, and which documents can be certified, depends on the applicant, the type of document, the application category, and current IRS requirements. We'll review your case before confirming the process.

Come prepared. We'll take it from there.

  • Valid ID.
  • W-2 and/or 1099 forms received.
  • Dependent information, if applicable.
  • Last year's return, if you have it.
  • Receipts for deductible expenses, if applicable.

The exact documents can vary based on your situation — this is a general guide.
